For more than two decades, Herzog Industries operated the 360 acre C and D Landfill. Herzog Industries is a parent company of Green Group.

The C and D Landfill was fined more than once for violating Kansas hazardous waste laws.

In 2011, Kansas environmental authorities went to court to get a cease and desist order to stop unlawful activity.

In 2013, Herzog turned the company over to Green Group. Within two years the city had taken over the landfill.
